What should you sell online?

The fact has already been established about the need to sell online before one can make profit on the internet. The big question now is: “what can I sell online”? I must confess, that there are tons of stuffs to sell online. It will be unfair to narrow your thinking by mentioning just few, but the summary of the answer is this: To make money online, you need to sell Information.

Those who sell information products online are called Infopreneurs. Just like we have entrepreneurs who are involved in setting up business offline, Infopreneurs are mainly involved in the business of selling Information products online.

What exactly is an Information Product?

An Information product is anything that teaches one how to do something. It is a product that shares information about a particular field or item. One thing about Information product is that it can be packaged in various formats.

• Videos
• Audio CD
• CD-ROM
• Telephone Consulting

The issue is this: “What particular area do you know much about and you can share with others”? Everyone on planet earth has got something in them and some don’t even know it. There is something in all of us. All we need to do is look inward and discover that area where we can package something valuable.

Some 6 years ago, I packaged a product and named it: “free stuffs on the Net”. It was packaged in a CD-ROM and Ebook, and when I placed an advert in one of the most popular magazines in Nigeria, I received hundreds of request for the product. I discovered that I am good at searching for things on the Net, and all I did was convert my passion to an Information Product.

One thing we must however avoid is to create and offer for sell an Information Product that has no visible market. It’s like putting the cart before the horse. We must first of all confirm there is a market before going ahead to create a product.
